Au Départ x Le Château du Marais
En Plein Air
En Plein Air, or in the open air, is the name of the event at Chateau du Marais . After 15 months of lockdown, Au Départ celebrated freedom with this sophisticated project of combining nature, rurality and art with the chance to share a special moment centered around several artistic activities by using Au Départ’s signature designs, allowing guests to enjoy freedom again.
The joint effort embodied the spirit of En Plein Air, a fresh view combining nature, rurality and art in a rural experiential day. The synergy of Au Départ and 91.530 Le Marais naturally developed due to a shared eye for detail and desire to create unique and innovative experiences.
The event kicked off with an “al fresco picnic” lunch next to the Château. Later in the afternoon, guests came to explore the intersection of art and nature through various experiences such as an installation of artist John Fou, exhibited in the stables of Le Marais, who explores symbolic equestrian imagery in his carousel of wild cavalcades. In the gardens of the Château, artist Cyril Debon’s ceramic creatures guided the wanderer along a bucolic trail of works made from the local clay. The day continued with the Seeding Ceremony, where guests planted more than 1000 bamboo young plants in pre-dug holes in the empty fields that lie adjacent to flourishing hemp fields on the Chateau grounds.
Au Départ masterminded the entertainment installation for the festive evening with a monogrammed signature DJ-console sound system for dancing outdoors in front of a 6 meters pyramid constructed from bales of hay. Au Départ designed an open-air camp with custom-made Au Départ tents styled with monogrammed rugs, pillows, puffs, and signature trunks. A barbecued dinner was served on the fields and guests, lounging under the camp tents, were able to appreciate the moment while listening to music. The evening concluded with guests lounging in the tents or dancing the night away.
